England skipper Jos Buttler won the toss and opted to field against Rohit Sharma’s India in the third and last ODI at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Wednesday.
India have an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match one-day international series with identical four-wicket wins in each at Nagpur’s Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium and Cuttack’s Barabati Stadium.

Jos Buttler said his decision to bowl first as ther could be some dew and also the fact they have already batted first twice and want to try chasing before the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
England captain added that his side have got into some good positions but need individuals to make full use of the situation, adding that Tom Banton is playing replacing Jamie Overton.
“We are gonna bowl first today. Little bit maybe, it may spin a bit later. We have batted first in the first two games so it will be a different experience today ahead of the Champions Trophy. It’s a decent wicket, we played New Zealand in the World Cup a few years ago, it was a black soil pitch and it played better in the second half. We have one change – Tom Banton comes into the side,” Jos Buttler said after winnign the toss.
Rohit Sharma, on the other hand, said he wanted to bat first as he would like to put runs on the board because they have chased a couple of times already in the series.
The India skipper added that there is a lot of young blood in the squad that just wants to go out and put everything on the line as he named Washington Sundar, Kuldeep Yadav and Arshdeep Singh in the playing XI
“I wanted to bat first and put runs on the board because we bowled first in the last two games. It was important for us to get a win in the last game. The fielders portrayed themselves well in the last two games, a lot of young blood. We want to continue to do well in the field. (On Harshit Rana and Varun Chakravarthy) They are pretty new in their careers so we want to keep the pressure away from them, let them do their own and they have got a lot of potential. We have made some changes – Jadeja and Shami have been rested, unfortunately Varun has a sore calf. So, Washi, Kuldeep and Arshdeep come into the side,” Rohit Sharma said at the toss.
