The practice match was set to take place from November 15-17, but the BCCI has now chosen to scrap the same to prioritise training for BGT
The BCCI has reportedly scrapped the three-day intra-squad match initially scheduled between India and India A at the WACA, before the Border-Gavaskar series, having prioritized training for the BGT more on Friday.
The Indian team was expected to leave for Australia at least two weeks prior to the first Test starting November 22 in Perth to play one or two intra-squad matches against their ‘A’ team colleagues as a tune-up to the opening fixture.
According to ESPNCricinfo, it is believed that the practice match was set to take place from November 15-17, but the BCCI has now chosen to scrap the same in light of India’s abysmal showing against New Zealand at home in their three-match Test series.
It has also been reported that India will now utilise the three days to include multiple net sessions and centre-wicket match simulation scenarios at the WACA.
India’s squad is set to depart for Australia shortly after the third and final Test against New Zealand in Mumbai finishes on November 5.
