India Squads Announcement For Sri Lanka 2024 Tour Live Updates: The suspense over India’s squads for the upcoming white-ball tour of Sri Lanka could be lifted today with new head coach Gautam Gambhir set to meet BCCI selection committee virtually.
As per reports, Gambhir has already had a meeting with the panel earlier this week but it’s been projected as an introductory call where discussions regarding the future of Indian cricket were held including squad makeup and the new coach’s vision.
Gambhir’s first assignment as the India coach is the Sri Lanka tour during which they will play in a three-match T20I series followed by an ODI series comprising three matches as well. The tour starts from July 27.
Multiple reports claim that the delay over the announcement is due to brainstorming over the new T20I captain with a toss up between favourite Hardik Pandya and new contender Suryakumar Yadav.

There’s a high possibility that Rohit Sharma could be picked for the ODI series though even though he’s currently holidaying in the USA. However, the likes of Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah will continue with their extended break.
The tour could see the comebacks of KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer – both last featured during the England Test series at home.
The Zimbabwe tour recently gave an indication of the direction in which Indian cricket is headed to as far as T20Is are concerned. Plenty of youngsters were given an opportunity and the trend is expected to continue for the Sri Lanka T20I series too.
