The highly-anticipated Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 is scheduled to begin on November 22 in Perth. Having lost the previous World Test Championship final to the Aussies in 2023, India will be looking for redemption on away soil. Millions of fans will follow the epic five-match Test battle between the two cricket powerhouses. The upcoming series will feature big stars like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Pat Cummins, Steve Smith, Jasprit Bumrah and Mitchell Starc.
Indian skipper Rohit Sharma will be unavailable during the first Test. Rohit is expected to miss the series opener due to personal reasons. In his absence, India’s star pacer Jasprit Bumrah will take over as the team’s captain in Perth.
India will be heading into the upcoming series after a crushing 0-3 whitewash Test series defeat to New Zealand on home soil. Gautam Gambhir’s men now must win the upcoming bout 4-0 to book a direct berth in the World Test Championship final, scheduled in June 2025 at Lord’s. Australia haven’t won a home Test series against India since the 2014-15 season. They will be looking to change that during the seven and a half weeks of Test cricket in the Australian summer.
