India vs Australia 2nd Test: Yashasvi Jaiswal, Steve Smith, Jasprit Bumrah feature among the list of players to keep an eye out for during the day-night contest at the Adelaide Oval.
The Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 resumes on December 6 as India face Australia for the 2nd Test in Adelaide. India have a 1-0 lead in the five-match series thanks to a big 295-run win.
Virat Kohli and Yashasvi Jaiswal scored centuries whereas stand-in captain Jasprit Bumrah led India’s bowling display with a five-for in the first innings. With Rohit Sharma set to return in the Adelaide Test as captain, India will hope their key players step up again and take them a step closer to making the World Test Championship final.
India Vs Australia, 2nd Test: Key Players
Virat Kohli
India star batter Kohli took the Perth Test by storm to score an unbeaten century in the second innings. He smashed eight fours and two sixes, guiding India to a dominant 295-run victory. Kohli will now be looking to replicate a similar performance in Adelaide. His return to form must have given Indian batting a major boost as they eye 2-0 lead.
Yashasvi Jaiswal
Jaiswal arrived in the Border-Gavaskar 2024/25 series with style. Competing in his first-ever Test in Australia, the 22-year-old was dismissed cheaply but peeled off a memorable hundred in the second dig. He hit 15 fours and three sixes in Perth.
Steve Smith
The Perth Test wasn’t kind to Australia Test veteran Steve Smith as he was dismissed for a golden duck by Bumrah. However, the Aussie is a modern-day great and the failure in Perth will only spur him on to do better. He has scored heavily against India in the past and will be eyeing return to form in Adelaide.
Mitchell Starc
One of the best fast bowlers of this generation, Starc could be a massive threat to India in the second Test. The pink ball typically swings more than the traditional red ball which can give Starc an advantage. Negotiating him will be one of the biggest challenges for the Indian batters.
Jasprit Bumrah
Bumrah was unstoppable in the opening Test. Leading India in Rohit’s absence, Bumrah delivered a Player of the Match award-winning performance. He scalped eight wickets in Perth and will hope to continue that form in Adelaide.
