India vs Australia: Here’s the head-to-head record between IND and AUS in Tests, and the Adelaide pitch report ahead of the 2nd Test.
With the Perth Test now in the past, India have now their eyes set on the Adelaide Test. The tourists clinched a 295-run win in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy opener against Australia last month. Australia are itching to bounce back in a contest that will be a day-night affair. The pink-ball contest will start on December 6.
India missed the services of their regular skipper Rohit Sharma in Perth but he’s back for the next assignment.
The Indian batters were unable to showcase their A-game in the first innings of the Perth Test. They managed only 150 runs but Australia also suffered a batting collapse and managed just 104 runs in reply. Bumrah took a five-wicket haul while the other two Indian pacers– Mohammed Siraj and Harshit Rana – picked 2 and 3 scalps respectively.
Yashasvi Jaiswal stole the show during India’s second innings. The youngster chipped in with a valiant 161-run knock while Virat Kohli struck an unbeaten hundred off 143 balls. Rahul also had a good outing and added 77 runs.
India declared their innings at 487 and set a mammoth target of 534 runs. Australia were all-out at 238 and India took a 1-0 lead.

India vs Australia Adelaide Pitch Report
According to head curator Damian Hough, the Adelaide Oval will offer a balanced surface for the second Test of the tour. The conditions are expected to remain overcast on the first two days when the pacers are likely to have the upper hand. “The pitch will have 6mm of grass. We are trying to produce a pitch that would be a good contest. The pitch did not play a part in the Test match finishing in 3 days last time India were here,” Hough said.
The last time India played a pink-ball Test at Adelaide in 2020, they were bundled out for 36 runs in their second dig. The average first innings total at this venue is 379 and the teams batting first have a better success rate with 41 wins in 85 Tests.
