India vs Australia Live Score, 5th Test Day 1 (India National Cricket Team vs Australia National Cricket Team, Border-Gavaskar Trophy): Indian captain Jasprit Bumrah won the toss and opted to bat first in the ongoing fifth Test against Australia at Sydney Cricket Ground, but his decision turned out to be a disaster in the first hour itself after Mitchell Starc and Scott Boland dismissed KL Rahul (4) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (10), respectively.
While Rahul was caught by Sam Konstas on the last of the fifth over inside the 30-yard circle, Jaiswal handed a simple catch to Beau Webster on the fourth ball of his first over of the match.
Shubman Gill added 40 runs for the third wicket with Virat Kohli (12) before throwing away his wicket on the last ball before lunch.
No Rohit for India
Rohit Sharma, who has been horribly out of form these days, has ‘opted to rest’ for the ongoing match at the SCG.

LIVE FEED
28.4 – Banged in short, over off, Pant sways away from the line of the ball quickly and lets the ball go through to the keeper.
An interesting and perhaps a sharp observation by Justin Langer on-air regarding Kohli’s stance. He mentions that Kohli’s stance was more open with his feet pointed more toward the mid-wicket in the Melbourne Test and he played the ball away from his body. Now, in this game, he has adjusted that and is playing with a more closed off stance, which means, that he is able to hit it close to the body and through the line.
28.3 – Another one that goes across the batter, on a short of a good length, Pant lets it be.
28.2 – Pushed across the batter, on a length, left alone by Pant.
28.1 – FOUR! Easy pickings! Pat errs in line as this is on the pads, full in length, Pant lets the ball come to him and glances it to the left of deep fine leg for a boundary.
27.6 – On middle and leg, on a nagging length, Kohli tucks it off the back foot but can’t get it past Sam Konstas at leg gully.

27.4 – Hurls it full in length, around off, Kohli presses forward to block it out. Gets it off the outer half of the bat towards gully.
Pat Cummins to share the attack from the far end. He is 7-1-17-0 so far. About Virat Kohli surviving an early scare fresh into his inning, a lot of discussions and opinions are flooding social media and also the broadcasters are involved in a detailed discussion regarding the same. Justin Langer on-air believes that Smith’s fingers were underneath the ball. He reckons that if the ball did come out of Smith’s hand, he wouldn’t have been able to scoop it up. However, Irfan Pathan mentioned in his tweet that Kohli was fairly deemed as not out. Mark Nicholas then mentions on-air that if you’re looking from an Indian perspective, Kohli was safe, but from an Aussie’s lense, he should’ve been in the dugout already.
27.3 – This is on a good length, on off, Pant pats it in front of cover and takes a single.
27.2 – A huge shout for LBW but the umpire remains unmoved! There were two noises. After a quiet word with Scott Boland, Pat Cummins decides not to take the review. With an upright seam, this jags back in to beat Pant as he tries to defend. The ball brushes the front pad before going onto hit the back pad.
27.1 – Slanting in from around the wicket, on a length, at the stumps, Pant drives it along the ground to mid on.

26.4 – Gets a good lift off the deck as Cummins digs it in short, at the ribs, Kohli rises with the bounce and fends it down safely on the leg side.

Welcome back for the post-Lunch session! The umpires and players are out to the middle. Australian players scatter out to the field as well. Virat Kohli is joined by Rishabh Pant as the two batters walk to the crease. Conditions have brightened up a bit and will improve as the day progresses. And as mentioned by Irfan Pathan and Russell Arnold in the unofficial pitch report during the break, as the sun comes out of the clouds, the moisture will wane and the ball will come nicely onto the bat as well. With that said, it is time to kick off the second session. Scott Boland (5-3-5-1) to get the proceedings underway. Off we go…
25.1 – Bangs it into the deck from over the wicket, over off, Kohli rides the bounce and stabs it down on the off side.
25.2 – A stifled appeal for LBW! Jagging back in, on a nagging length, on off and middle, Kohli looks to work it away with the angle. Gets beaten on the inside edge and wears it high on the back pad.
Welcome back for the post-Lunch session!
