IND vs ENG 2025: India’s home season resumes with a white-ball series against England starting January 22.
World champion India are set to host England for a five-match T20I series from January 22. India’s firepower in the bowling department has been given a boost with Mohammed Shami’s return. He last featured in an India shirt during the ODI World Cup final in November 2023 following which he underwent ankle surgery. Stars like Jasprit Bumrah, Rishabh Pant, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill have been rested. Dhruv Jurel and Sanju Samson are the two wicketkeeper-batters.
The England squad arrived in batches ahead of the series opener at the Eden Gardens. Their star allrounder Liam Livingstone was the first to check in. He flew in directly from South Africa after his brief stint with Pretoria Capitals in the SA20. The rest of the England team arrived later from their training camp in Dubai.
The last time India faced England in a bilateral T20I series was in 2022. India emerged victorious in that three-match tour, winning 2-1. Suryakumar Yadav led India’s batting charts with 171 runs across the three innings at an average of 57.
