The second T20I of the ongoing four-match series between India and South Africa, which is scheduled to take place at St George’s Park in Gqeberha on Sunday (November 10), is set to be affected by rain. According to Accuweather forecast for the city on Sunday, there are 49 to 54% chances of rain at 7 p.m. IST when the toss is scheduled to take place. The chances of rain will rise to 63% by 8 p.m. IST, which means that there are high chances of a delayed start to the match.
It has been predicted that there are 40% chances of rain during the second half of the match, which means there are high chances of a rain-curtailed match in Gqeberha.
India won the series opener played at Kingsmead in Durban on Friday (November 8) to take a 1-0 lead in the series. In the last T20I between India and South Africa in Gqeberha on December 12, 2023, the hosts hammered the Suryakumar Yadav-led side by five wickets.
Assistance to pacers?
The pitches in South Africa usually assist pacers more than spinners, and if the match gets affected due to rain on Sunday, then the surface will have plenty for the fast bowlers with good bounce and carry.
Debut for Dayal or Vyshak?
Royal Challengers Bengaluru pacer Yash Dayal and Vijaykumar Vyshak are part of India’s 15-member squad for the ongoing series against South Africa, and if the conditions are suitable for fast bowlers, then there are high chances that one out of two will get a chance to play for India on Sunday.
Dayal, who was retained for Rs 5 crore by RCB ahead of the upcoming IPL 2025 mega auction, has earned ODI and Test call-ups as well for India in the past but never got a chance to play, whereas the ongoing series is the first time Vyshak has been called up to play for India.
