IND vs SL 2024 Live Score 1st ODI August 2: Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will be in focus as India begin their preparations for the next year’s Champions Trophy with a three-match ODI series in Sri Lanka starting today. The two have been absent from the field since India’s T20 World Cup triumph since they have retired from the format. The aim of this series will be to also decide whom India prefer as the wicketkeeper-batter in ODIs: KL Rahul or Rishabh Pant. Or do they go with both? In that case, they may have to push a specialist batter out of the side.
Rahul has been admirable in the dual role in Pant’s absence who made his competitive return through IPL and international comeback at the T20 World Cup. Shreyas Iyer also returns in the middle order and his record has been excellent in ODIs having scored 846 runs from 20 matches at an average of 53 with three hundreds in 2023 alone.
India recently blanked Sri Lanka 3-0 in a three-match T20I series and will be aiming to continue that form into the longer format too. Sri Lanka have been hit by injuries with Matheesha Pathirana and Dilshan Madhushanka ruled out of the series.
The hosts will be primarily focused on their batting that has often betrayed the decent efforts of their bowlers.
