India and the West Indies will face each other in a two-match series. The first Test of the two-match red-ball series will be played at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad from October 2 to 6, and New Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium is scheduled to host the second match. In the team picked up by the Ajit Agarkar-led selection committee for the first home series of the 2025-27 World Test Championship (WTC) cycle, Shubman Gill has been retained as captain, but in the absence of Rishabh Pant, who is out of action these days due to a foot injury, world No. 1 Test all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has been named as Gill’s deputy.
On the other hand, the visitors will play under the leadership of spin bowling all-rounder Roston Chase. After suffering a humiliating 0-3 defeat against Australia in his first-ever series as full-time captain of the West Indies, the 33-year-old cricketer from Barbados would like to come up with big performances in the tough tour of India.
The West Indies have suffered two big setbacks ahead of the start of the series. Pacers Alzarri Joseph and Shamar Joseph are out due to injuries. In their absence, Jayden Seales will be the leader of the West Indies’ pace attack.
