It’s a must-win match for the Harmanpreet Kaur-led side after it went down by five wickets in the series opener played at the same venue on Thursday (December 5).
Australian captain Tahila McGrath has opted to bat first in today’s match. India has made one change to its playing XI. Minnu Mani is playing today in place of Titas Sidhu, who conceded 27 runs in her quota of 4.2 overs during the first ODI and failed to take any wicket.
For Southern Stars, Sophie Molineux is playing today’s match in place of Georgia Wareham.
Harmanpreet Kaur-led India need to show significant improvement with the bat after a disappointing show in the first match held earlier this week. The tourists were bundled out for 100 with only Jemimah Rodrigues scoring more than 20 runs. Australia did lose five wickets but they chased down the target in just 16.2 overs with debutant Georgia Voll hitting an unbeaten 46.
Megan Schutt was the star performer with the ball for the hosts as she finished with bowling figures of 5/19 from 6.2 overs. Kim Garth, Ashleigh Gardner, Annabel Sutherland and Alana King also took a wicket each.
