As the IPL’s highest wicket-taker in history, Chahal will make for a vital addition, bringing in both experience and skill in loads.

Yuzvendra Chahal has been acquired by Punjab Kings (PBKS) for a stellar Rs 18 Crore at the IPL 2025 auction in Jeddah (Saudi Arabia).
It came as a shocker when Rajasthan Royals let go of the decorated spinner, but it must have come to the delight of all the franchises that eyed Chahal.
CSK took the initiative to acquire him by starting the bidding, but soon it was PBKS and LSG who were involved in a fiery bidding war.
Soon enough, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, with whom Chahal shares history with, came in to reacquire the spinner. But, Sunrisers Hyderabad came into the mix again to compete for the Indian international, with Punjab Kings once again entering the battle.
Chahal, earlier this year in IPL 2024, became the first bowler to reach 200 IPL wickets. On top of the same, he also went on to become the first Indian bowler to reach 350 wickets in T20 cricket soon, proving his immense prowess in the short format.
In 113 IPL matches for RCB, Chahal picked up 139 wickets, but despite that, he was not retained by the Bengaluru-based franchise ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auction.
The 34-year-old spinner joined RR and in the last three seasons picked up 66 wickets to show that he is still a force to reckon with in the IPL.
