Check the complete list of players retained by their sides from the most valuable to the least ahead of the IPL 2025 auctions.
The highly-anticipated retention lists from the IPL sides ahead of the mega-auction came in on Thursday as every team in the money-rich T20 franchise league announced the list of players they would like to hold on to ahead of the impending auction in the lead-up to the 2025 season.
Top stars were retained by the sides for mouth-watering sums of money as South African batter Heinrich Klaasen took the top billing with the Sunrisers Hyderabad holding onto the services of the middle-order batter for a whooping 23 Crore Indian Rupees.
Virat Kohli came in second on the list of most expensive retentions as Royal Challengers Bangalore held on to their poster boy for 21 Crore Indian Rupees, as did Lucknow Super Giants for the retention of Windies maverick Nicholas Pooran.
Teams were provided the option to retain six players from their sides at the most with specific rules for the retention of uncapped players built into the stipulations.
Chennai Super Kings star MS Dhoni was the most remarkable ‘uncapped’ retention as the World Cup winner was retained for the base value of 4 Crore Indian Rupees as he hasn’t represented the Indian side or held a BCCI central contract in the past 5 years.
