Lucknow Super Giants have made the IPL playoffs in two out of three seasons since making their debut in 2022. All three seasons they were led by KL Rahul. However, last season they finished a distant seventh and reports of team owner not happy with captain Rahul also became a big talking point. Sanjiv Goenka’s animated chat with the wicketkeeper-batter after a 10-wicket defeat to Sunrisers Hyderabad last season triggered speculations of a fallout. The franchise has been making changes to their backroom staff. India fast bowling legend Zaheer Khan has joined as a mentor after Gautam Gambhir’s exit. They, though, have stuck with Australian Justin Langer as their head coach who came on board last season.

Amount LSG Spent On Retaining Players: Super Giants spent Rs 51 crore on retaining five players. They enter the auction with one Right To Match option.
LSG’s Costliest Player in Retention List: Wicketkeeper-batter Nicholas Pooran is the costliest in their list commanding a salary of 21 crore.

Where did LSG Finish In IPL 2024?
The last season saw LSG winning seven matches and lose as many. They finished level on points – 14 – with Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Capitals. However, a poor net run-rate saw them finish seventh. The disappointing performance seems to have played a key role in the franchise parting ways with Rahul.
