Five-time champions Mumbai Indians on Friday unveiled their jersey for IPL 2025, as the former winners vie for their sixth title, after what was a disappointing season in IPL 2024.
The official jersey unveil was accompanied by a heartfelt message from skipper Hardik Pandya to the fans, as he promised to uphold the proud legacy of the franchise besides the team’s core of former skipper Rohit Sharma, ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah, India’s T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma.
Mumbai won their fifth IPL title in 2020 and will be looking to add a record sixth title to their kitty when the upcoming season gets underway on March 22.
“Dear Paltan, 2025 is our opportunity to bring the legacy where it belongs. With the blue & gold on us, we will take the field to Play like Mumbai. This is not just our jersey. This is a promise to you. Chala bhetu, Wankhede la (Let’s meet at Wankhede),” Pandya said.
Mumbai’s jersey for IPL 2025 retains the iconic and trademark blue and gold colours symbolic of the franchise’s essence. “Blue represents trust, confidence, and the team’s boundless potential, while gold signifies glory, achievement, and the relentless pursuit of excellence,” a release from Mumbai Indians read.
Mumbai will begin their IPL 2025 campaign against arch-rivals Chennai Super Kings at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Sunday, March 23 in an evening game.
Mumbai next have a six-day gap before they take on the Gujarat Titans, a team that Pandya led to the title in IPL 2022, on Saturday, March 29 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Mumbai will play their first home game just two days after the match against Gujarat, as they will take on defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders at the Wankhede Stadium on March 31.
Mumbai will face the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in a classic Rohit vs Kohli encounter on April 7 at home. They will again take on Chennai on Sunday, April 20 at home in an evening game.
Mumbai Indians will look for redemption in IPL 2025, after finishing last in IPL 2024, with just four wins in 14 matches.
