IPL 2025 Players Retention List Live: Just about three days are left before all 10 Indian Premier League franchises will have to finalise and reveal their list of retained players ahead of the next mega auction. Exactly a month has passed since the IPL governing council announced the player regulations for 2025-27. After lively discussions with the teams, the BCCI allowed each of them to keep hold of many as six players via retentions or by using the Right to Match (RTM) card – up to their discretion. Of these six retentions/RTMs, a maximum of five capped players – Indian and overseas – are allowed and a maximum of two uncapped players.
IPL Retention Deadline Day
All 10 teams including Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings, Kolkata Knight Riders, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Rajasthan Royals, Gujarat Titans, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Punjab Kings, Delhi Capitals and Lucknow Super Giants will have to shortlist the retention list by October 31st.
IPL 2025 Auction Purse
The auction purse has been increased and each team can splurge Rs 120 crore to build their squad now. The salary cap comprises auction purse, incremental performance pay and match fees. In 2024, the total salary cap (auction purse + incremental performance pay) was Rs 110 crore. It has been increased to Rs 146 crore (2025), Rs 151 crore (2026) and Rs 157 crore (2027).
One of the significant rules that has been introduced ahead of the latest mega auction is that a capped Indian player will become uncapped, if the player has in the last five calendar years preceding the year in which the relevant season is held, not featured in the playing XI in international cricket (Test match, ODI, T20O) or does not have a Central Contract with BCCI. This though is only applicable for Indian players.
