IPL Mega Auction 2025 Today Live Updates, Day 2: The second day of the IPL mega auction is set to take place with franchises aiming to complete their respective squads and in doing so, spring up more surprises. Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer and Venkatesh Iyer stole the limelight triggering bidding wars and breaking records. Pant has become the costliest player ever bought at an IPL auction after LSG splurged Rs 27 crore to seal his services. Moments before Pant, it was Shreyas who drew a record winning bid of Rs 26.75 crore from Punjab Kings. Kolkata Knight Riders then broke the bank to buy back Venkatesh Iyer for Rs 23.75 crore.
72 players were sold on Day 1, and plenty more capped and uncapped cricketers are still to come up for auction.
The two-day is being hosted by Jeddah’s Abadi Al Johar Arena in Saudi Arabia. Players from Set 13 all the way down to Set 79 could be in contention to be picked up by one of the 10 franchises.
Several high-profile stars and uncapped talents are yet to be auctioned, and we will also have the accelerated round which is expected to speed up the process.
In the lead-up to the IPL auction, the franchises were asked to retain a maximum of six players each from their squad that took the field last season. Only two teams retained six players each while Punjab Kings kept hold of just two.
