The IPL Governing Council revised the retention rules earlier this year. The updated policy permits teams to retain a maximum of six players. The final list must not exceed five capped and two uncapped players.

The auction purse for IPL 2025 has been raised by 20 percent from its previous limit of Rs 100 crore in 2024. The augmented purse stands at Rs 120 crore, with the salary cap set at Rs 146 crore.
