India may be down for the moment, but skipper Rohit Sharma believes that the visitors will bounce back and not be scarred by the devastating loss they incurred in the second Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy on Sunday.

Australia ran riot over the Indians with both the bat and ball, as they thumped the visitors to register a dominant 10-wicket win.

Returning skipper Rohit Sharma was privy to a disappointing outing, as he became the sixth Indian captain to lose four back-to-back Test matches. Yet, he maintains belief in his side to bounce back stronger from the loss.

“Firstly, it’s not a (mental) scar, it’s just we’ve lost a Test match,” Rohit exclaimed.

“We didn’t play well enough. So it’s important in this short time that we have before the next Test match just to figure out certain things.”

“It’s still one-all and plenty of things left in this series and definitely a way for us to get back into it.”

India failed to fire on all fronts, especially with the bat, as they were bundled for just 180 and 175 in the two innings, as pacers Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins both ravaged the batter order of the visitors with fifers of their own, whilst India were left with no answers to give.

“When you come to Australia I feel the best chance of winning a Test match is by putting runs on the board. And of course, when we won the toss, we elected to bat,” stated Rohit.

“We knew that there would be challenges. But in the past, where the conditions have been a little challenging, we’ve batted really well to put runs on the board and then try and put pressure on the opposition.

“There were opportunities when Australia were batting and we failed to take those chances,” said Rohit.

“And obviously, when you miss those chances, it is never easy, the opposition will always make you pay for it, and that’s what happened.”

Both teams will now shift their focus to the third Test that is set to take place at the Gabba. India has a lot to look at going into the next game.
