Jasprit Bumrah picked up five wickets for 83 runs in the first innings of the ongoing first Test against England at Headingley in Leeds. The figures of 5 for 83 on Sunday (June 22) helped Bumrah become the first bowler from Asia to take 150 Test wickets in SENA (South Africa, England, New Zealand, and Australia) countries.
The ongoing Test between India and England is Bumrah’s 32nd Test match in SENA countries, and he now has 150 wickets to his name.
In the list of Asian bowlers with the most Test wickets in SENA countries, Bumrah is followed by Pakistan legend Wasim Akram (146), former India Test captain Anil Kumble (142), senior India pacer Ishant Sharma (130), and Sri Lankan spinner Muttiah Muralitharan (125).

Bumrah, who is the world’s No. 1 Test bowler, is leading India’s bowling attack in Leeds, and on Day 2 of the first Test against England, he picked up three wickets. Bumrah dismissed Zak Crawley (4) on the last ball of his first over and then clean bowled Ben Duckett for 62 runs. Joe Root was the third English batter to get out off Bumrah’s bowling on Saturday. Root was caught by Karun Nair in the first slip after making 28 runs.
The 31-year-old fast bowler remained wicketless in the morning session of the third day’s play, but in the second session, he clean bowled Chris Woakes (38) and Josh Tongue (11) to complete his fifer.
The fifer in the first innings of the Leeds Test is overall Bumrah’s 14th five-wicket haul in Test cricket and 11th in the World Test Championship (WTC). No other bowler in the world has picked up more fifers in the WTC than Bumrah.
Bumrah has 11 fifers in 36 WTC matches, whereas former Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin picked up 11 fifers in 41 WTC matches.
