Jasprit Bumrah now has 907 rating points surpassing the previous Indian record of 904 by Ravichandran Ashwin set in 2016.

Fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah continues to reach new heights. On Wednesday, Bumrah surpassed India legend Ravichandran Ashwin’s all-time rating-point record in ICC rankings. Ashwin held the record for eight years when he reached rating of 904 in December 2016 which was the highest ever for an Indian bowler. In the latest rankings, Bumrah has 907 rankings points which is a new record for an Indian.
It is also the joint-17th highest in the all-time list with Derek Underwood of England.
Bumrah, world’s top-ranked Test bowler, produced another stellar show in Melbourne despite India suffering a big defeat at the hands of Australia. He took 9 wickets in the match to take his series tally to 30 from four matches. Prior to the Test, he had drawn level with Ashwin in the ranking points (904) for bowlers.
The Melbourne show took Bumrah past Ashwin who recently announced his retirement from international cricket.
Australia captain Pat Cummins, who won player-of-the-match for his all-round show in the 4th Test, earned 15 rating points thanks to his six wickets which has also helped him jump to the third spot in the ICC rankings bowler Test bowlers.
He also secured a third place in the Test all-rounder rankings after he notched up 90 vital runs across two innings during Australia’s 184-run win in the fourth Test.
In the rankings for Test batters, India opener Yashasvi Jaiswal’s 82-run first-innings knock in the Boxing Day Test saw him jump a spot to a career-best fourth with 854 rating points, while Nitish Kumar Reddy’s maiden Test century leapfrogged him 20 places to 53rd.
