Jasprit Bumrah is reportedly with the NCA in Bengaluru where he will undergo scans to know whether he will be available for India’s Champions Trophy 2025 campaign.
India’s pace spearhead, Jasprit Bumrah has reportedly made his way to Bengaluru as he is set to begin his race against time where he hopes to become fully fit, ahead of the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025 in Dubai.
According to a report by Times of India, the Indian pacer is set to be assessed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) National Cricket Academy (NCA) where he would undergo scans this week.
The pacer will be present at the NCA for at least two or three days following which the specialists will share their observations with the men’s senior selection committee led by Ajit Agarkar. Earlier last month, Agarkar had revealed that Bumrah has been asked to ‘off-load for five weeks’ following the Border-Gavaskar series and they would get further clarity early this month.
“Bumrah has been told to off-load for five weeks after he won’t be available for the first two ODIs against England. We are waiting on his fitness and will know his status in early February from the medical team. We’ll probably find out a bit more around that time, what exactly, and with regards to what his medical condition is, I’m sure BCCI might just put something out, from the physio itself,” Agarkar had revealed.
In addition, the BCCI selectors are also looking to confirm their final 15-man squad for the Champions Trophy 2025 to the International Cricket Council (ICC). The report claims that should Bumrah not cut, Harshit Rana could make his way into the side.
The Indian team have already begun their preparations with a short camp in Nagpur ahead of the ODI series against England. The upcoming 50-over affair will be ideal testing grounds for the skipper Rohit Sharma to try out his combinations and get the team up to speed for the returning ICC event. The three games will be played at Nagpur, Cuttack and Ahmedabad respectively.
Following the ODI series, the team will fly out to Dubai on February 15 where they will play out their entire tournament in the city should they go deep into the tournament. Senior stars like Rohit, Virat Kohli and others will be keen on getting into their best form following massive concerns after their disappointing performances in recent times.
