The Indian team suffered a massive injury scare towards the end of the second session’s play of the 2nd Test against Australia when their leading fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah pulled up after the third delivery of what was his 20th over of the match. Bumrah was heading back towards his bowling mark when he suddenly clutched his adductor muscle before the team physio rushed to the middle to tend to him.

Bumrah looked visibly uncomfortable as he was treated for several minutes with the play being halted. Fortunately, the 31-year-old recovered and resumed bowling at full throttle.

It was Bumrah who gave India hope early on Day 2 when he picked up a couple of wickets in quick succession before Travis Head and Marnus Labuschagne repaired the damage. Labuschagne scored a measured fifty but Head was at his destructive best, peeling off a brisk century to put Australia in control of the day-night affair.

The team will hope Bumrah’s fitness concern isn’t serious given his importance in their bowling attack. He was the star performer in their come-from-behind win in the Perth Test taking a match haul of eight wickets in a massive 295-run win.

Trailing 0-1 in the five-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Australia have made a superb start to the second Test. A six-wicket haul from Mitchell Starc was pivotal in bundling out India for 180 after their captain Rohit Sharma opted to bat first.

Australia then lost opener Usman Khawaja cheaply but the pair of Labuschagne and Nathan McSweeney kept Indian bowlers at bay to end the Day 1 on a high.

On Day 2, Bumrah sent back McSweeney and Smith in quick succession to take his tally to three wickets. After that, the hosts took control with Labuschange hitting 64 off 126 while Head making 140 off 141 with the help of 17 fours and four sixes.

It was Mohammed Siraj who put an end to Head show with a superb yorker.
