Jemimah Rodrigues’ quick ton and India’s record-setting innings of 370/5 sealed a 116-run victory and the ODI series vs Ireland.
The India Women’s Cricket Team created history after their immense batting performance, which shattered several records during the second ODI against Ireland Women that took place at the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot on Sunday.
Multiple milestones were achieved, including Jemimah Rodrigues’ maiden century and record-setting boundary hitting the dominant display, which marked India’s growing prowess in the format. India went on to win the game by 116 runs as the visitors scored only 254 in their quota of 50 overs to thereby lose the match and also concede the series.
Let us take a look at some of the records that have been broken in the second ODI between India Women and Ireland Women:
India’s Highest Total In WODIs
IND-W have now set a new record for their highest score in the 50-over format after their first-inning score of 370/5. Thanks to contributions from Jemimah Rodrigues (102), Harleen Deol (89), Smriti Mandhana (73) and Pratika Rawal (67), the team has now surpassed their previous best, which was 358/5, which came against the West Indies earlier last month.
IND-W Third Team To Score Multiple 350+ Scores In A Season
After a blistering batting performance, the Women in Blue became the third team to have scored multiple 350+ scores in a season. England did it first in 2016, they repeated the feat the next year, and it was followed by New Zealand, who did it in 2018.
Jemimah Rodrigues Smashes Joint-2nd Fastest Ton In WODIs
Rodrigues now joins Harmanpreet Kaur to share the record for the second-fastest century by an Indian in WODIs. Harmanpreet also holds the record, having scored an 87-ball hundred against the South African side in 2024. She also shares the second spot with her 90-ball century against the Aussies as well.
Most Boundaries Scored By India In WODIs
The Indian team once again pipped their own record, which they set against the West Indies. Against Ireland, the Women in Blue smashed 44 boundaries, which is one better than the previous record that they had set against the Windies Women’s team earlier.
Mandhana-Rawal Becomes Fourth To Record 3 Century Partnerships
The new opening pair of Smriti Mandhana and Pratika Rawal seems to have worked out, particularly on home soil. So far the duo have recorded as many as three century stands in the five games they have opened together. This also makes them the fourth opening pair to have recorded three or more century stands in a WODI season.
The previous instances include Anju Jain and Jaya Sharma in the 2003-04 season, followed by Rachael Haynes and Alyssa Healy in the 2021-22 season, where they had four century stands for the opening wicket, and also Belinda Clark and Lisa Keightley’s three century stands in the 1999-2000 season.
