Buttler, who’s England’s leading run scorer in the shortest format of the game, has played 24 T20Is against India so far and has 611 runs to his name.

England’s white-ball captain Jos Buttler created history on Saturday, January 25, by becoming the first player in the world to score 600+ runs against India in T20Is. Buttler came out to bat at No. 3 for the English team in the second T20I against India, which was played at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, and with the help of two fours and three sixes, scored 45 runs from 30 balls. During his 45-run knock, Buttler also became the leading run scorer in T20Is against India.
The 34-year-old right-handed batter broke West Indies wicketkeeper-batter Nicholas Pooran’s record of 592 runs. Pooran has played 20 T20Is against India so far and, with the help of five half-centuries, has 592 runs to his name. On the other hand, Buttler has scored 611 runs in 24 matches.

In the list of batters with the most runs against India in T20Is, Buttler and Pooran are followed by Australia’s Glenn Maxwell and South Africa’s David Miller. While Maxwell has scored 574 runs in 22 matches (2 centuries, 2 fifties), Miller has amassed a total of 524 runs in 25 matches.
During his stay at the crease on Saturday in Chennai, Buttler hammered three maximums, which took his tally of sixes to 151 in T20Is. Buttler, who led England to the T20 World Cup title win in 2021, is the first English and fourth batter overall in the world to hit 150 sixes in the shortest format of the game.

India’s T20I captain, Suryakumar Yadav, has hit 145 sixes in 80 T20Is played so far, whereas Pooran has 149 maximums to his name.
