Kane Williamson lit up Hamilton’s Seddon Park with his 33rd Test hundred on the third day of the ongoing third New Zealand vs England Test. The former Kiwi skipper reached the milestone with a maximum off Tom Bethel, becoming the first batter in history to score 5 consecutive Test centuries at a single venue.
Williamson marshalled New Zealand’s innings after heavy rain wiped out the morning session. After getting dropped by Ollie Pope for 86, Williamson enhanced his record at Seddon Park with a fifth consecutive century. This was his seventh ton across 12 Tests at this venue.

Williamson matched his Australian counterpart Steve Smith to score his 33rd Test hundred. Only England right-hander Joe Root has more Test centuries than Williamson among current players, with the former New Zealand captain once again at his brilliant best as he reached triple figures with yet another knock that put his side in a dominant position. Williamson also completed 14,000 First-Class runs during his stay, smashing his 43rd century.

Though Williamson’s subline knock was ended by Shoaib Bashir in the 79th over, England’s struggles under gloomy skies were exacerbated by an apparent hamstring injury suffered by talisman Stokes in his third over of the day. The England captain suffered a torn hamstring on the same left leg in August, forcing the 33-year-old to miss four Tests during a two-month recuperation period.
New Zealand resumed on 136-3, holding a 340-run advantage after the tourists were skittled for 143 on Sunday. The lead has gone past 530, putting the hosts in a pole position against England. The visitors have already wrapped up the three-match series, leading 2-0 after emphatic wins in Christchurch and Wellington.
