India had a forgettable outing in the second Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy held at the Adelaide Oval. The Aussies, desperate to bounce back in the five-match series, clinched a resounding 10-wicket win in the day-night contest.

Indian batters failed to turn up in Adelaide, as the tourists posted 180 in their first innings and 175 in the second dig.

For Virat Kohli, it turned out to be an unimpressive fixture as he managed 18 runs in the contest held at the venue where he enjoys a stellar record. In five matches at the Adelaide Oval, Kohli has 527 runs at 52.70 including three centuries.

A video of a fan with a placard thanking Kohli after the batting maestro played possibly his final Test innings in Adelaide is going viral on social media.

Reacting to the post, one social media user commented, “Australia recognises GOAT, most of the Indians have started asking him to retire.”

“King Kohli thanks for the memories,” read another response.

“Virat Kohli’s magic in Adelaide, unforgettable moments,” commented another.

“Thank you Australia for showing your love and respect towards the all-time greatest Virat Kohli,” wrote one person.

“Have seen plenty of reels from the Australian crowd since yesterday tributing King Kohli’s presumed last test match in Adelaide. My heart’s broken,” read a  comment.

Kohli’s tryst with Adelaide began in 2012 when he scored 116 in India’s first innings.  The Aussies though won that fixture by 298 runs.

Two years later Kohli had another tremendous outing in Adelaide scoring two centuries across two innings in the Test series opener against.

Kohli scored 115 in the first and followed it with 141 in the next.

Despite Kohli’s brilliance with the bat, India had lost that contest by 48 runs.

Kohli scored another half-century at the same venue in December 2020.

The former India captain kicked off the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 on a promising note having scored a hundred in the second innings of the Perth Test.
