Kolkata Knight Riders IPL 2025 captain LIVE: Three-time IPL champions Kolkata Knight Riders are likely to announce the new captain for the upcoming 2025 edition of the Indian Premier League today. While the franchise has not made any official announcement regarding the same, it has hinted that on March 3, 2025, at 3:33 PM, it could make the big reveal.
Former India Test vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane, who was signed by the Kolkata-based franchise for Rs 1.50 crore in the IPL 2025 mega auction last year, is leading the race to succeed Shreyas Iyer as KKR captain. Iyer led KKR to an IPL title win last year, but he was not retained by the franchise ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction.
In addition to Rahane, Madhya Pradesh all-rounder Venkatesh Iyer, who was signed for Rs 23.75 crore in the IPL 2025 mega auction, and middle-order batter Rinku Singh, who was retained for Rs 14 crore ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction, are in the captaincy race.
