Before the Indian Premier League fixture between the Lucknow Super Giants and Delhi Capitals, the spotlight was on KL Rahul and Sanjiv Goenka, who had made headlines for the wrong reasons in the previous seasons.

But Rahul, in his new home with the Capitals, proved to be the difference as he scored a measured half-century, helped DC get a dominant win over LSG, that too at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. After the game, whilst everyone was shaking hands, a moment between Rahul and the LSG owner was seen on video on social media, which went viral.

Rahul did not waste too much time as he gave a quick handshake to Goenka and was seen giving the latter a cold shoulder after the match. When Rahul was leading the Lucknow-based franchise, there were moments were Goenka was seen allegedly scolding the former captain as the star batter struggled briefly under the leadership role.

During the game against his former franchise, Rahul played a watchful knock, scoring a half-century and scoring the winning runs as well. Since moving away from LSG, Rahul has seemingly had a fresh start with DC, where he seems to be in top form.

With Goenka watching in the stands, Rahul’s knock certainly would have been a sweet one as he scored his third half-century of the season and thus making a statement having taken the LSG owner’s wrath in the previous season.

During the knock, he also created a new record for being the fastest batter to score 5000 runs in the IPL, going past the likes of some legendary batters like David Warner and Virat Kohli.

Rahul will be back in action for the Delhi Capitals as they gear up for their next game, which is against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru on Tuesday at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. A couple of more wins in the next six games will take DC to 16 points, considered a magic figure for play-off qualifications.
