Indian batter KL Rahul opened up on his future in the Indian Premier League after Lucknow Super Giants opted to release the 32-year-old ahead of the upcoming mega auction.
Rahul, who led the LSG unit in the previous season but was not named in the list of players retained by the IPL unit, revealed that he wanted a fresh start. He added that he wanted to play somewhere where he would have the freedom to express himself.
“I wanted to start fresh, I wanted to explore my options and I wanted to go and play where I could find some freedom,” Rahul said.
“Team atmosphere would be lighter, sometimes you just need to move away and find something good for yourself and I have been out of the T20 team for a while,” he added.

Rahul has been struggling for form in the shortest format of the game and has not pulled on the famous Indian blue kit in over two years now. The Karnataka batter stated that he was eager for the upcoming edition of the T20 extravaganza to get back on track.
“I know where I stand as a player and I know what I need to do to get back,” the 32-year-old added.
“I look forward to this IPL season to give me that platform to go back and enjoy my cricket,” he asserted.

He also added that his target is to make it back to the Indian side in the 20-over format and would likely look for a big demonstration of his abilities in the upcoming edition of the money-rich franchise league.
“My aim is to obviously get back into the T20 team,” the wicketkeeper-batter added.
