Ahead of India’s Champions Trophy 2025 opener against Bangladesh in Dubai on Thursday, February 20, Indian men’s cricket team captain Rohit Sharma has shared a message for Indian fans in which he thanked them for their support and memorable reception after winning the T20 World Cup 2024 title. The 37-year-old right-handed batter, who is aiming to win another ICC trophy as India captain, in a video shared by BCCI from its official social media handles, said that Indian team is well prepared for the Champions Trophy 2025 and is looking to lift the title once again.

“From Barbados to India—we were made to feel like champions, and we felt like champions. Along with us, I am sure you felt like champions too. Months later, we begin our quest to become champions once again. We have trained, tournament mandates done, now it is time to go all out on the field. For the team, for you fans, and for the nation that will be chanting our names, as always. So, let’s do this again, you & us—let’s be champions together,” Rohit said in a BCCI video.
India is the most successful team in Champions Trophy history in terms of matches won and titles. In the last edition of the Champions Trophy, which was played across multiple venues in England and Wales, India made it to the final under Virat Kohli’s leadership but failed to win the title.
In 2025, Team India will once again start as favourites to win the title. After facing Bangladesh in the first match on Thursday at Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Rohit Sharma and his men will take on archrivals Pakistan in the second Group A match at the same venue on Sunday, February 23. The match against India will be a must-win for Pakistan after it went down by 60 runs against New Zealand in the first match of Champions Trophy 2025 on Wednesday in Karachi.
In the third and final Group A match, India will face New Zealand in Dubai on March 2. India has faced Kiwis only once in the Champions Trophy (2000 edition final), and in that match, the Men in Blue went down against the Stephen Fleming-led side.
