With the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 Auction just around the corner, the cricketing world is buzzing with excitement. Millions await to see which franchises will sign the biggest players in the upcoming mega auction. The IPL 2024 Auction will be held across two days including November 24 and 25 in Saudi Arabia.
A total of 574 players will feature in the 2025 IPL mega auction. Among these around 366 cricketers are Indians whereas 208 are overseas. The list also includes three players from associate nations. The official auction list includes 318 uncapped Indian and 12 uncapped overseas players.
The IPL 2025 retentions saw three major captains Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer released by their franchises Delhi Capitals, Lucknow Super Giants and the Kolkata Knight Riders, respectively. Wicketkeeper-batters will likely receive great attention at the upcoming auction. Most teams will be going after Rahul, which could lead to the ex-LSG skipper fetching a hefty sum. Rahul has been a consistent performer in the franchise tournament with plenty of experience as a skipper. Pant is another candidate who will be on the radars of multiple franchises. He produced a stellar individual campaign in his comeback season last year and is expected to go for a huge price at the auction. Ishan Kishan is another explosive wicketkeeper batter who can cause a bidding war in the mega auction.
Mallika Sagar will continue as the official auctioneer for the IPL 2025 mega auctions. All 10 franchises collectively have around Rs 641.5 crore in their purse. A total of 204 slots will have to be accommodated using this amount. Around 70 of these slots have been earmarked for overseas players.
