Harbhajan Singh compared Jofra Archer to London’s Black Taxis while commentating on his bowling figures during SRH vs RR in Hyderabad.

Harbhajan Singh has sparked controversy while on commentary duties for the IPL 2025 match between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals on Sunday. The legendary offspinner compared Jofra Archer to London’s Black Taxis during the match and the remark hasn’t gone down well with users on social media.
During the 18th over of SRH innings, Archer was struck for a pair of boundaries by South African Heinrich Klaasen prompting Harbhajan to compare the speed with which the RR fast bowler was leaking runs to a black taxi meter.
“London mein kaali taxi bohot tez bhagti hai, uska meter. Aur ye aaj Archer sahab ka bhi meter kuch aise he bhaga hai (London’s black taxis meter runs at a high speed and so has been the case with Archer today). He’s has given away lot of runs,” Harbhajan quipped.
However, the comment has resulted in a backlash on social media with users asking the former India cricketer to apologise.
Archer had a day to forget as he achieved an unwanted IPL record – the most expensive bowling figures in the league’s history. The Englishman leaked 76 runs in his four overs to surpass the previous record held by India pacer Mohit Sharma (0/73).
The 29-year-old was clattered for 23 runs in his first over before leaking 12 in his second. He then returned to bowl the 13th over and ended up being smacked for 22 runs. His nightmare continued in the slog overs when he was creamed for another 23 runs.
Archer was a last-minute addition to the IPL mega auction final list last year and subsequently signed by RR during the two-day event for Rs 12.5 crore.
SRH racked up a mammoth 286/6 in 20 overs after RR opted to bowl first at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. RR though showed great intent and kept SRH on their toes during the run-chase before finishing at 242/6.
