Ishan Kishan would’ve been kicking himself after watching his dismissal during Sunrisers Hyderabad’s IPL 2025 fixture with Mumbai Indians on Wednesday night. Batting on 1, Ishan tried working away a delivery from right-arm pacer Deepak Chahar towards the leg-side but missed his shot.
The ball was collected by wicketkeeper Ryan Rickelton but to the surprise of MI fielders, Ishan began walking off the field. The on-field umpire seemed to be extending his arms to signal wide but upon spotting the SRH batter walk, he raised the finger.
This was after neither Rickelton nor Chahar appealed for the caught-behind with MI captain Hardik Pandya making a half-hearted appeal.
Ishan managed 1 off 4 as SRH were reduced to 9/2 in 2.1 overs before slumping to 35/5.
Later, replays showed ultra-edge not registering any spike when the ball past Ishan’s bat.
The incident caught former Pakistan left-arm pacer’s Junaid Khan’s attention who left a cryptic post on his social media handle alongside the clip of Ishan’s dismissal.
“Daal my kuch kala hai…(Looks suspicious),” wrote Junaid who played 22 Tests, 76 ODIs and 9 T20Is between 2011 and 2019.
