Let’s have a loot at CSK’s emerging talent in IPL 2024
Rachin Ravindra: The Kiwi allrounder was roped in for INR 1.8 crore and in return, he ended the season the as the sixth top-scorer for the franchise. Ravindra scored 222 runs in 10 matches, striking at 160. He smashed a fifty, hit 12 sixes and 22 fours.
Sameer Rizvi: The young batter from Uttar Pradesh hogged the limelight in the last year’s edition of the UPT20, leading up to a massive paycheck at the IPL mini auction. CSK splurged INR 8.40 crore to have the hard-hitter onboard. Coming into the IPL, he made his presence felt by hitting Rashid Khan for a six on debut. Unfortunately, his opportunities to showcase his talent were limited and he scored just 51 runs from five innings during which he faced 43 deliveries.
Tushar Deshpande: The Mumbai bowler has been a great find for CSK. The first-ever Impact Player of IPL history, Tushar has done wonders with the ball for the Yellow Army. In two seasons, Deshpande has picked up 38 wickets in 29 games. IPL 2023 was his best season as he ended up picking 21 wickets as CSK won the title. Even in 2024, he was CSK’s highest wicket-taker with 17 scalps to his credit. Earlier this year, he made his T20I debut for India in Harare and picked up two wickets in as many matches.
Simarjeet Singh: The right-arm quick from Delhi played a key role for CSK in 2022 and 2024. Back in 2022, when the franchise missed the services of Deepak Chahar, Simarjeet paired with Mukesh Choudhary to lead their pace attack and picked up 4 wickets in 6 matches. After not getting a game in 2023, he returned into the mix in 2024 when in 4 games he claimed 5 wickets. So far, he has played 30 T20s and picked up 33 wickets, averaging 22.63.
Matheesha Pathirana: The Lankan pacer is evolving as a match-winner in the CSK camp.
