New Zealand fast bowler Matt Henry entered his name in the history books on Sunday (March 2) by becoming the first bowler in the world to take a five-wicket haul against India in the Champions Trophy. Henry achieved the feat during the India-New Zealand Champions Trophy 2025 match taking place at Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday. He finished the match with figures of 5 for 42 in eight overs and restricted India to 249/9 in 50 overs.
Henry opened his account by trapping Shubman Gill (2) in front of the wickets on the fifth ball of the third over of the match, and then in the seventh over he picked up Virat Kohli’s wicket. Kohli, in his 300th ODI for India, could only manage to score 11 runs from 14 balls.

Henry’s third wicket came in the form of Ravindra Jadeja, who scored 16 runs from 20 balls. The 33-year-old fast bowler dismissed Hardik Pandya (45) on the third ball of the last over of India’s innings and completed his fifer by taking Mohammed Shami’s wicket on the last ball.
