MI Cape Town all-rounder Corbin Bosch has replaced Anrich Nortje in South Africa’s ICC Champions Trophy 2025 squad. The 30-year-old cricketer, who has played one Test and one ODI for South Africa so far, was added to the squad on Sunday, February 9.
According to an ICC release, “Anrich Nortje, who was ruled out of the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025 with a back injury, has been replaced by an upcoming fast bowler in South Africa’s 15-member squad. Days after South Africa announced their squad for the tournament, Nortje was forced to withdraw from it owing to a recurring back injury. The Proteas have finally named his replacement in the form of 30-year-old Corbin Bosch, who made his international debut in December last year. He has played just one ODI and a Test so far.”
Along with Bosch, South Africa has also added fast bowler Kwena Maphaka to the squad as a travelling reserve. The two fast bowlers, along with batter Tony de Zorzi, will travel to Pakistan on Sunday (February 9) to join the squad for the remainder of their ODI series.
South Africa will open their campaign in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 on February 21 against Afghanistan at National Stadium in Karachi, and in the second match, the Temba Bavuma-led side will face Australia at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on February 25. South Africa’s third and final Group B match is scheduled to take place against England at National Stadium in Karachi on March 1.
