Travis Head hit a blistering 140 off 141 balls to put Australia firmly in the driver’s seat in the pink ball Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, which the hosts eventually won comfortably by 10 wickets.

Head’s hundred, the fastest in a pink ball Test, had 17 fours and four sixes as the left-hander continued to be a thorn in India’s flesh with yet another magnificent knock.

Head played some incredible shots, including a pick-up six over Siraj over deep square leg, but the pacer had the last laugh as he brought his innings to an end when he cleaned him up with a yorker.

Former Indian cricketer Mohammed Kaif said if Australia’s back-up bowlers like Scott Boland know about Virat Kohli’s weakness and can exploit it, why can’t Indian pacers find a solution for Head’s dominance?

“When Boland, someone who doesn’t play consistently, knows how to exploit this, why can’t we trap Travis Head? If his weakness is outside the off-stump, why don’t we consistently bowl there? Every batsman has weaknesses,” Kaif said in a video posted on his social media.

“Virat Kohli ki kamzori log pakad ke rakhe hue hai, off-stump ke bahar ball daalo, wo waha out honge (everyone knows Virat Kohli’s weakness, bowl him outside the off stump, he gets out there). You’ll need to adopt the same strategy against Travis Head as well. You need to move ahead with proper planning. You need to attack him from the first ball; you need to make a fixed plan to exploit his weakness, and then you can get him out,” Kaif added.

Kaif also pointed out that the Indian team should not be daunted by the Aussies and is confident of a comeback in the third Test in Brisbane.

“We are making mistakes. I don’t believe this Australian team is so strong that we should be scared of them. We won the first match; Australia played well, so they won the second match, and now the series is 1–1. The Indian team is a strong side, and when we go to the Gabba, we will make a comeback.”
