Travis Head scored 140 runs with the help of 17 fours and four sixes during his stay at the crease before he was clean bowled by Mohammed Siraj.
Star Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj was seen giving an aggressive send-off to Australian middle-order batter Travis Head on Saturday (December 7). Head was clean bowled by Siraj on the fourth ball of the 82nd over of Australia’s first innings. After Siraj breached Head’s defence and rattled his stumps, the duo can be seen getting engaged in a verbal battle, and Siraj then gave him a send-off.
The video of Siraj’s reaction and the verbal battle between the duo after Head’s dismissal is now going viral on the internet.
Before returning back to the pavilion, Head faced a total of 141 balls and, with the help of 17 fours and 4 sixes, hammered 140 runs. He added 65 runs for the fourth wicket with Marnus Labuschagne (64) and 74 runs for the sixth wicket with Alex Carey (15).
Head completed his century in 111 balls and then came up with a beautiful celebration to honour the birth of his second child.
The century on Saturday against India is Head’s third hundred in pink-ball Tests, and now only Marnus Labuschagne has hammered more triple-digit scores in day-night Tests than him. By completing his century in 111 balls, Head also broke his own record of scoring the fastest century in day-night Tests.
Siraj gives a lifeline
During the second session of the second day’s play, Siraj gave a lifeline to Head when he was batting on 76 runs. The Aussie batter tried to play a big shot against Ravichandran Ashwin but failed to connect properly, and the ball went straight up. Siraj had a chance to complete an easy catch, but he failed to convert the opportunity.
After getting a lifeline, Head made Siraj and India pay for it and scored 64 runs to not just help the hosts make a comeback in the match after losing Nathan McSweeney and Steve Smith’s wicket early on Day 2 but also extend the first innings lead past the 125-run mark.
