Star Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj joined Jasprit Bumrah in an elite list of bowlers on Sunday, January 5. The 31-year-old cricketer from Hyderabad, who made his Test debut for India in December 2020 against Australia, became the fourth Indian bowler after Ravichandran Ashwin, Jasprit Bumrah, and Ravindra Jadeja to take 100 wickets in the World Test Championship.

Siraj, who is playing his 36th WTC match for India these days in Sydney, achieved the feat during the third day’s play of the ongoing fifth India-Australia Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground. He dismissed Usman Khawaja for 41 runs. The left-handed batter was caught by Rishabh Pant on the first ball of the 19th over of the run chase.

The record of taking most wickets in WTC for India is held by Ashwin. The 38-year-old spinner, who retired from international cricket on December 18, 2024, finished his career with 195 wickets in 41 matches. Ashwin is followed by Bumrah, who has 156 wickets to his name in 35 matches, and Ravindra Jadeja (131 wickets in 39 matches).

England has three representatives in the form of Stuart Broad, James Anderson, and Jack Leach.
