Here’s a look at five-time IPL champions CSK’s strongest playing XI for the 2025 edition of the cash-rich league.

After failing to qualify for the IPL playoffs in 2024, Chennai Super Kings would like to come up with a big show in the 2025 edition of the cash-rich league and go all the way to win the title for the sixth time. After retaining five players for Rs 55 crore, CSK entered the IPL 2025 mega auction with a purse of Rs 65 crore, and they managed to sign many quality players. Apart from getting the likes of Devon Conway and Rachin Ravindra back, CSK managed to sign R. Ashwin as well. The legendary Indian spinner made his IPL debut for them and won two titles in 2010 and 2011.
Here’s a look at CSK’s strongest playing XI for IPL 2025:
Devon Conway: CSK signed New Zealand opening batter Devon Conway for Rs 6.25 crore on Day 1 of the IPL 2025 mega auction. The left-handed wicketkeeper-batter made his IPL debut in 2022 and has 924 runs to his name in 23 matches played so far.
Ruturaj Gaikwad (C): Ruturaj Gaikwad was appointed as CSK captain ahead of the start of the IPL 2024 season, and he will lead the side in the 2025 edition as well. The 27-year-old right-handed batter has 2380 runs to his name in 66 IPL matches played so far.
Rachin Ravindra: Rachin Ravindra made his IPL debut for CSK in 2024, and the franchise signed him back via RTM for Rs 4 crore in the IPL 2025 mega auction. The left-handed batter from New Zealand has scored 222 runs in 10 IPL matches played so far, and he can also win matches with his spin bowling.
Rahul Tripathi: CSK signed Maharashtra batter Rahul Tripathi for Rs 3.40 crore in the IPL 2025 mega auction. The right-handed batter who has played for RPSG, KKR, RR, and SRH in the past will be an ideal replacement of Ajinkya Rahane in CSK’s playing XI. He has 2236 runs in 95 IPL matches played so far.
Shivam Dube: CSK retained Shivam Dube for Rs 12 crore ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction after he impressed everyone with his performance with the bat in the last two editions of the cash-rich league. In 65 IPL matches played so far, the 31-year-old all-rounder has 1502 runs and five wickets to his name.
Ravindra Jadeja: Star Indian all-rounder Jadeja has scored 2959 runs and picked up 160 wickets in 240 IPL matches played so far for four teams. He was retained for Rs 18 crore ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction.
MS Dhoni (WK): MS Dhoni, who is the most capped player in IPL history, will play for CSK in the 2025 season as well. He was retained for Rs 4 crore by the five-time IPL champions ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction.
Ravichandran Ashwin: CSK splashed out Rs 9.75 crore to sign legendary Indian spinner R Ashwin in the IPL 2025 mega auction. The 38-year-old cricketer is a two-time IPL winner with CSK during his first stint and has 180 wickets to his name in 212 IPL matches played so far.
Sam Curran: Sam Curran will play for CSK in the IPL again. The 26-year-old English all-rounder was signed for Rs 2.40 crore in the IPL 2025 mega auction. Curran has 883 runs and 58 wickets to his name in 59 IPL matches played so far.
Khaleel Ahmed: Left-arm pacer Khaleel Ahmed will play for CSK in IPL 2025 after being signed for Rs 4.80 crore by the franchise. Khaleel has 74 wickets to his name in 57 IPL matches played so far.
Matheesha Pathirana: Sri Lankan pacer Matheesha Pathirana has dismissed 34 batters in 20 IPL matches played so far for CSK since making his debut in the cash-rich league in 2022. He was retained by the Chennai-based franchise for Rs 13 crore ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction.
