Former Indian captain and legendary wicketkeeper-batter Mahendra Singh Dhoni is enjoying a vacation with his family in Thailand these days. The official Instagram account of his daughter Ziva Singh Dhoni, which is handled by Dhoni and his wife Sakshi, shared multiple pictures of the family enjoying leisure time on the beaches of Phuket.
The picture of Dhoni in the sea and Ziva watching him from a distance was shared with the caption, “Beach day!” and within no time it went viral on the internet.
Dhoni, who was last seen in action on May 19, 2024, during CSK’s IPL 2024 match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, is all set to take part in the IPL next year. The most capped player in IPL history was retained for Rs 4 crore by Chennai Super Kings ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction.
Dhoni has been associated with CSK since the start of the cash-rich league. He was retained for Rs 4 crore because of IPL 2025 retention rules, which allowed teams to retain an Indian player who hasn’t played in the last five years at the highest level under the uncapped player category.
Apart from Dhoni, CSK retained Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ravindra Jadeja, Matheesha Pathirana, and Shivam Dube. While the Chennai-based franchise splashed out Rs 18 crore each for Gaikwad and Jadeja, Sri Lankan pacer Pathirana was retained for Rs 13 crore, and Indian all-rounder Dube will continue his association with CSK for Rs 12 crore.
In the IPL 2025 mega auction, which is scheduled to take place in Jeddah on November 24 and 25, CSK will have the option to re-sign one player from the IPL 2024 squad under the RTM (Right to Match) card. It will be interesting to see for which players out of Devon Conway, Rachin Ravindra, Shardul Thakur, and Deepak Chahar, CSK will use the RTM card.
As many as 1574 players have registered themselves for the IPL 2025 mega auction, but England’s Test captain Ben Stokes has opted out. Former England pacer James Anderson has entered his name in the auction for the first time, and one pacer from Italy has also enrolled himself for the auction.
