WPL 2025: From Schedule To Full Squads; Take A Look At All Key Details About Mumbai Indians
Former champions Mumbai Indians will compete in their Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 opener against back-to-back finalists Delhi Capitals. The Harmanpreet Kaur-led side will be eyeing glory this season as they hope to become the first team to win two WPL crowns. Mumbai Indians won the 2023 edition of the franchise tournament by securing a seven-wicket victory over the Delhi Capitals in the final. They ended up losing by a whisker in the Eliminator last year, conceding a five-run loss to eventual champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
The Mumbai Indians added four new players to their squad for the third edition of the WPL. South Africa all-rounder Nadine de Klerk, India under-19 wicketkeeper Kamalini G, and upcoming all-rounders Sanskriti Gupta and Akshita Maheshwari have joined the side for the 2025 season. The 2023 champions will miss the services of India all-rounder Pooja Vasktrakar who still hasn’t recovered from her injury. The 25-year-old has been replaced with another under-19 World Cup winner, Parunika Sisodia.
Mumbai Indians bossed the 2023 edition, securing second place on the league table. They breezed past the UP Warriorz in the Eliminator to make their first final. In the tournament’s second edition, the Harmanpreet Kaur-led side produced a similar run before crashing out in the playoff. They will look to recover from their last-ball heartbreak in 2024 to make their second final in the T20 tournament.
