Here’s a look at Gujarat Titans’ top emerging players from the 2024 season of the Indian Premier League.
The Gujarat Titans played their first season under the newly appointed skipper Shubman Gill who was now handed the leadership responsibilities for the franchise. The Titans who made consecutive finals the previous two years, failed to qualify for the first time in their three years in the IPL.
However, the upcoming IPL 2025 auction will serve as the opportunity for Gill to bring his identity into the squad and showcase why he is a leader for the future of Indian cricket. While GT had a poor 2024 season, they had young stars who showcased the potential of being a key member of the side in years to come and possibly make it to international cricket.
Here’s a look at the emerging talents who have performed for the Gujarat Titans in the IPL 2024 season:
Sai Kishore
Tamil Nadu’s skipper in the Ranji Trophy has been outstanding in the domestic format but is yet to make his mark in the IPL. He has not gotten a consistent run of games in the tournament after playing five games each in the 2022 and 2024 seasons. But he showcased glimpses of his potential when he picked up a four-wicket haul against Punjab Kings in the Mullanpur Stadium to help set up GT’s win. Following that game, he also mentioned his shift in mentality which focuses on a team-first approach, rather than going for individual accolades which could see the management bank on his skills for the long-term. One aspect he would need to work on is his batting. Considering that Rashid Khan would be the side’s first-choice spinner, he would need to work on his batting skills down the order to ensure that he can contribute in all three facets of the game.
Noor Ahmad
Afghanistan’s left-arm wrist-spinner has taken a lot of spinner with his franchise and international teammate Rashid Khan. The left-arm wrist-spinner, now 23-years-old could look to improve and take his game to the world-class level. A reliable fielder who can also chip in with the bat, he could be a key player to help GT extend their batting order but also have that attacking mentality with the ball, giving the side two wicket-taking options on the spin front as well.
Sai Sudharshan
The young left-handed batter has been amongst GT’s best performers through the last three years. And now he would be looking to take his game to a new level to be the side’s go-to run-scoring option at the top order. He looked good in partnership with the skipper Shubman Gill and could be the next big star of the tournament. He has taken his game up since his debut in 2022 and was the leading run-scorer for the side in the 2024 season with 527 runs. With his ability to score runs consistently, it is no surprise that the franchise decided to retain him keeping the future in mind.
