Five years back, on this day (November 24), the Indian cricket team won its first-ever day-night Test match, at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. This game was also the first-ever day-night Test held in India.
The second fixture of the series also turned out to be Bangladesh’s maiden pink-ball Test. Playing against the Bengal Tigers, the Virat Kohli-led side put up a dominant show to clinch a victory by an innings and 46 runs.
Virat Kohli scored a fabulous century in the Test match to enthral the Kolkata crowd. Amongst the bowlers, Ishant Sharma was in sublime form as he picked up nine wickets, across two innings, to guide the hosts to a resounding triumph.

The then Bangladesh captain Mominul Haque won the toss and decided to bat first. The decision, however, did not turn out to be a fruitful one for the visitors as they were bowled out for 106. Shadman Islam emerged as the highest scorer for Bangladesh in the first innings having added 29 runs.
Ishant Sharma was India’s top performer with the ball in the first innings as he scalped five wickets conceding just 22 runs in 12 overs. While Umesh Yadav chipped in with three more vital wickets, Mohammad Shami dismissed two Bangladesh players.
India, in response, came up with a solid batting and posted a mammoth total of 347 runs at the loss of nine wickets. Skipper Virat Kohli led from the front and produced a terrific innings of 136. Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane also contributed significantly with each scoring a half-century. Ebadot Hossain and Al-Amin Hossain bagged three wickets each for Bangladesh in the first innings.
India carried forward their brilliance in the second innings as Bangladesh failed to do anything significant in the batting department. Ishant Sharma excelled once again with the ball, having claimed four wickets. Umesh Yadav also appeared to be in spectacular form, registering a five-wicket haul in the second innings.
For Bangladesh, Mushfiqur Rahim was in fine touch as he played a brilliant knock of 74 with the bat. But his praiseworthy performance went in vain as the visitors could manage to reach a total of 195.
