Star Pakistan wicketkeeper Gull Feroza has said that her team is well aware that they would play their ODI World Cup games in Asian conditions, just not in India, adding that Pakistan is not interested in playing in the neighbouring country, even as turmoil continues between the two nations over the Pahalgam terrorist attack.

As per the hybrid model approved for the next two years by the International Cricket Council, India and Pakistan will play their games at neutral venues if either nation hosts a multi-national tournament.

The system came into place after India refused to travel to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy two months back, playing their matches in Dubai instead.

“We know this much that we will play in Asian conditions, and we are not playing in India. This is clear. Neither are we interested in playing in India,” Feroza said while speaking to PakPassion.

“So, wherever it is played – hopefully in Sri Lanka or Dubai – those conditions are similar to the ones you get in Asia. The Qualifiers were at home and the staff prepared tracks accordingly,” Feroza added.

India is set to host the Women’s World Cup in September, with Pakistan confirming their place in the event after winning all five matches in the recent qualifiers.

The Pakistan women’s team’s presence in India for the tournament was all but ruled out, with Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Mohsin Naqvi confirming that the side wouldn’t be travelling to the neighbouring nation.

“Just like India didn’t play in Pakistan in the Champions Trophy and were allowed to play at a neutral venue [Dubai], whatever venue is decided, we will play [there]. When there is an agreement, it has to be adhered to,” Naqvi said.

BCCI and the International Cricket Council will convene to decide the neutral venue for Pakistan’s matches.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan military resorted to unprovoked firing all across the Line of Control, and Indian troops responded to them, military sources told PTI on Saturday, April 26.

The exchange of fire for a second successive night came amidst increased tension between India and Pakistan after Tuesday’s Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 civilians.
