Pakistan played 14 matches in the ongoing World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 cycle but was only able to win five and suffered defeat in nine matches.

Pakistan suffered a shocking defeat by 120 runs against the West Indies in the second Test of the two-match series played at Multan Cricket Stadium on Monday, January 27. In reply to the target of 254 runs, Pakistan could only manage to score 133 in 44 overs. Left-arm spinner Jomel Warrican, who picked up 4 wickets for 43 runs in the first innings, accounted for the dismissal of five batters in the second to finish the match with figures of 9 for 70 runs.

The first Test defeat against West Indies at home in 35 years has dropped Pakistan to last position in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 points table, and the Men in Maroon will finish the ongoing WTC cycle at the bottom as no more series is left to play for both the West Indies and Pakistan.

Pakistan could only manage to win five out of 14 Tests played in the WTC 2023-25 cycle and finished with a PCT% of 27.98. On the other hand, with 3 wins, 2 draws, and 8 defeats in 13 matches, West Indies finished in 8th place with 28.21 PCT%.

South Africa is set to finish at the top of the WTC 2023-25 points table with 69.44 PCT%, and Australia, which will face Sri Lanka in a two-match Test series from January 29, will finish 2nd. The Baggy Greens can’t pip South Africa even if they whitewash the Islanders in the next two matches at Galle International Stadium.

Sri Lanka is in fifth place as of now with 45.45 PCT% and if Dhananjaya da Silva’s men win the home series with a scoreline of 2-0, then they will rise to the No. 3 position in the points table. As of now, the Indian team is in third place with 50.00 PCT%.

If the Test series finishes 1-0 in favour of Sri Lanka, then Sri Lanka will finish 4th in the points table with 48.72 PCT%, and if the series ends at 1-1, then Sri Lanka will remain in fifth place. But if Australia wins the series 2-0 or 1-0, then Sri Lanka will drop to sixth place and finish below England, which has a 43.18 PCT%.
