While Pakistan thrashed the Australia in Perth in the 3rd ODI, Pat Cummins was in Sydney to attend a Coldplay concert.
Mohammad Rizwan-led Pakistan scripted history in Australia as they won the first ODI series Down Under since 2002. The men in green registered a famous eight-wicket win in the series decider at the Optus Stadium, Perth to clinch the series 2-1.
On the other hand, the hosts rested their key players, such as Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne, for the series decider to keep them fresh for the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy against India. However, the Australian captain’s recent picture with his wife Becky has sparked an uproar on social media.
While Pakistan thrashed the Aussies in Perth in the 3rd ODI, Cummins was in Sydney to attend a Coldplay concert. His wife Becky shared an Instagram Story, in which she can be seen enjoying the event with her husband.
“Excitement levels are high,” she wrote on Instagram.
Meanwhile, the Australian media also came across the picture and didn’t show mercy on Mr & Mrs Cummins. Sydney Morning Herald wrote a news piece titled, “Why Cummins was at Coldplay while Australia were smashed?” The Australian also published an opinion piece and the headline read, “Cummins’ concert jaunt a cold start to summer.”
Earlier on Sunday, Saim Ayub hit 42 and Abdullah Shafique 37 as Pakistan raced to a commanding eight-wicket victory. After bowling out the woeful world champions for a miserly 140 at Perth Stadium, Mohammad Rizwan’s team reached their target in the 27th over.
The impressive performance, aided by high-quality bowling from Naseem Shah, Shaheen Shah Afridi and Haris Rauf, ensured a first ODI series win in Australia since 2002.
“It’s a special moment for me and the fans,” said captain Rizwan.
“I’ll give all the credit to the bowlers. Australia in Australia is not easy. But Saim and Abdullah have given us a couple of great starts, too. The fans love us regardless of whether we win or lose and I really appreciate that,” he added.
