Star fast bowler Pat Cummins will lead Australia in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Cricket Australia took to X on Monday (January 13) to announce the preliminary squad for the eight-team tournament, which is scheduled to take place across three venues in Pakistan and one in Dubai from February 19 to March 9. Cummins was a doubtful starter for the six-time ODI World Cup winners due to injury-related issues, but he has been included in the 15-member squad.

Fast bowler Josh Hazlewood, who suffered an injury during the third India-Australia Test at The Gabba in Brisbane, is also part of the squad. All-rounder Mitchell Marsh has managed to retain his place in the white-ball team after facing an axe from the Test side.

ODI World Cup 2023 winners Travis Head, Mitchell Starc, Adam Zampa, Glenn Maxwell, Josh Inglis, Marnus Labuschagne, Steve Smith, Alex Carey, and Marcus Stoinis will also play for Australia in the ICC Champions Trophy next month.

Fast bowler Nathan Ellis is also part of the Australian squad along with all-rounders Matthew Short and Aaron Hardie.

Australia is part of Group B in the Champions Trophy and will open its campaign on February 22 against arch-rivals England at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. Pat Cummins-led side’s second match is against South Africa on February 25 at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, and in the last group stage match, the two-time Champions Trophy winners will face Afghanistan at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on February 28.

The two semifinals of the Champions Trophy are scheduled to take place in Dubai and Lahore on March 4 and 5, respectively, and the summit clash will be played on Sunday, March 9. If India makes it to the final, then the title decider will take place at Dubai International Cricket Stadium; otherwise, Gaddafi Stadium will host the final of ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

Australia’s squad for ICC Champions Trophy 2025: Pat Cummins (C), Travis Head, Marnus Labuschagne, Steve Smith, Josh Inglis (WK), Alex Carey (WK), Mitchell Marsh, Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, Matthew Short, Aaron Hardie, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, Nathan Ellis, Adam Zampa.
